The cheapest and most expensive places to rent a house in Warwickshire

Rent costs vary dramatically across the Midlands – so where can you find a house in your price range?

Renting a house in Warwick is the most expensive in the Midlands – more than Stratford-upon-Avon, Rugby or Coventry – and even Birmingham.

It comes after new figures from the Valuation Office Agency revealed that on average, a two-bed property in the town costs £825 a month in the year to March.

It’s £130 more than the national average of £695 per month, and more akin to southern cities like Southampton (£815 a month) or Bournemouth (£825 a month).

The average rent for a two-bed stands at £750 a month in Stratford-upon-Avon, £675 a month in Rugby, £650 a month in Coventry and £575 a month in Nuneaton and Bedworth – the cheapest area to rent in Warwickshire.

The figures from the VOA are published twice a year, and are based on a sample of more than half a million private rents recorded between April 2019 and March 2020.

Across England, renting prices are generally higher than they were the same time last year. The average two-bed rents were £20 more than when the survey was carried out foe 2019.

But the prices for Warwick were £850 last year, meaning the costs have come down slightly.

Rents in Kensington and Chelsea are the highest in England, costing an eye watering average of £2,817 a month for a two-bed home.

In comparison, the cheapest homes to rent are in the north of the country, including Hull and Burnley at £425 – nearly half the cost of the same size property in Warwick.
